OpenSUSE will not install on Parallels 20 on Mac Studio

Leap 15.6 installed just fine on Parallels 19, but the parallel tools install died. I was hoping that Parallels 20 would fix this. But downloading and trying to install the UEFI-ARM64 openSUSE-Leap-15.6-DVD-aarch64-Build710.3-Media.iso failed. It said it was the wrong kind of ISO. How to fix this?

Parallels Tools fails to install under Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon

I have tried several times to install Parallels Tools on a Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon virtual machine on my Mac mini 2012 running Catalina. I previously created a Windows 11 virtual machine, which installed Parallels Tools correctly, so this problem only occurs under Linux Mint 22 for me. I tried...

Permission Denied when installing Parallels Toolbox

Inside my Kali Linux guest virtual machine, running on a Mac Host, when I select install Parallels Toolbox, the folder gets mounted and there's instructions to cd into the directory and run sudo ./install. That's exactly what I'm doing and I'm getting a permissions denied. Please advise. I've...

    Using Linux Raw Image Files

Are there any hopefully simple instructions on how to create a virtual machine from a Linux distro raw image file please? I'm fine with using .iso files to create virtual machines with Parallels on my M1 Mac. Thanks.

Fedora 38 is end-of-life in 6 days, Parallels still suggests installing it

Fedora 38 will go end-of-life in 6 days, on 2024-05-21. Most importantly, that means no more security updates will be published. Fedora 38 is still the version of Fedora that Parallels will download and set up when selecting Fedora from the VM creation dialog. Will a supported version of...

Time sync issues on silicon mac running Ubuntu 22 VM

I am running the latest version of Parallels on an M2 Max Mac Studio. I have two VMs running Ubuntu 22.04. The clock is being set 100+ years ahead on both of them. This happens when I just leave the VMs running, not paused or suspended. I set up a script to check the date every 5 seconds and it...

Upgrading Ubuntu Desktop to 23.10 Corrupts the VM

Upgrading Ubuntu Desktop from 23.04 to 23.10 results in the corruption of the boot disk and the attached screen appears. Does anyone know a solution to correct this ? I am running the latest version of Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro Edition on a Sonoma M2 Air.

Roseta 2 available also for old MacOS x86/64 vms ?

With Sonoma, it's possible to launch linux x86_64 vm from Mac M1 thanks to Roseta and parallels. It should be very useful to do the same thing with old MacOS versions (intel only). Do you think that it could be possible like for linux ?

Installing Parrot OS Security Edition Guest on Apple Silicon

I recently figured out how to install Parrot OS Security Edition in a Parallels VM on Apple Silicon. It's something I've been tinkering with for a while, and I thought I'd share how I did it since I've seen some posts by people looking for help with it. The process below may look like a lot of...

Rosetta on Ubuntu with x86_64 emulation stopped to work

Hi, I was able to have my Ubuntu ARM version happily running x86_64 binaries using rosetta (the one downloaded directly from parallels), but suddenly it stopped to work. Now I am getting this error every time I tried to run same binary that was working before: rosetta error...

Installing x64 operating systems on Parallels 19?

It appears with the introduction of Parallels 19 Pro that some form or level of x64 support is returned insomuch that Ubuntu x64 can run and - from what I have read - other x64 Linux distributions. When I enable x64 support in 19 Pro: And when I try to boot an x64 operating system, I do not...

    Upgrading Fedora version

I just installed Fedora as a guest OS from directly within Parallels. Immediately Fedora is nagging me to upgrade, saying that version 36 is no longer supported and I should upgrade bo 38. Can I click "yes" and do the upgrade from within Fedora as a guest OS? Or will that create problems?

Failure to install Parallels Tools on Debian 11 Guest

Try as I might, I cannot successfully install Parallel Tools in my Debian 11 guest VM. My Max Studio with M1 Max running MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 and Parallels 18.2.0 has a 10 gig ethernet connection that is an 802.1q VLAN trunk. Enable Rosetta on Parallels's Linux VMs for Apple Silicon

Apple has documented this feature on Ventura: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/virtualization/running_intel_binaries_in_linux_vms_with_rosetta. AFAIK, UTM has supported this feature. It would be ideal for Parallels to add this function as cross-architecture-compile is much needed on...
