windows search box floats off to right outside of start menu

I just upgraded a VM from Windows 7 to Windows 10. In coherence mode, when the start menu is brought up, the search box floats outside the start menu to the right. The search box is workable. Just seems very odd. See two screen shots: (1) showing floating search box; (2) after typing into search box.
