what exactly is the office problem with shared folders? I'm still not able to save something to a shared folder through office... is that supposed to be fixed? if so, maybe I'm doing something wrong?

There are 2 known issues with Shared Folders in RC2:
1. Browsing SF from the root in MS Office doesn't work. But if you directly enter full path - it should work.
2. SF doesn't renewed when updating Parallels Tools - a lot of problem comes from here. Because of this you still reporting issues which were fixed in earlier betas. Solution - unistall Parallels Tools and then install it again.

Both issues will be fixed before GA.

I am having the same issues as elventear. I have a Mac Book Pro 2Ghz with 2GB RAM. I had parallels beta 2 and I upgraded to RC2. Since then parallels crashes when I launch it. --Not when I launch a VM but when I start the app.
I tried:
-AppZapper + manual check for any files
-Activity monitor to stop prl_dhcpd
-Empty trash
-Restart
-Install
-Restart
-run parallels

and to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Running RC2 and Win XP Pro w/SP2 on a MBP with 2GHz + 2GB RAM.

Increased VM disk size to 6000MB but XP still reports 5000MB after complete boot, after running ImageTool, defrag, everything, rebooting again, anything I could think of, etc. XP says I only have 12MB of free disk space even though I just added another GB.

BTW, I've had settings on "expanding disk" since day #1. I increased the disk size because XP was throwing warnings.

Now XP continues to report that I'm critically short of disk space and I cannot load new software.

Any ideas?

1. To finilize disk enlarging you should use any partioning software (Acronis Partion Expert for example) or use internal XP disk tool to add new partition.
2. You could attach second virtual disk to your VM and place some data there.

My Garmin iQue 360 syncs without problem. I do not sync another palm on the OSX side on this machine? If you do perhapsd it is confusing things.

HASP 4 is OK with RC2

Just tried my HASP4 USB device again. I do not seem to have any problem connecting, running the copy-protected software (then quitting it), disconnecting (then waiting 3 minutes) and then re-connecting the HASP4 and then running my copy-protected software again. Again, a great improvement with RC2!

I confirm, my HASP4 USB is OK allowing to run my protected software.

Wow

Amazing improvements in speed (both system-wide and file sharing). BUT -- I wouldn't have recognized the great improvements in file sharing had I not decided (after using RC2 last week) to uninstall Parallel Tools and reinstall. I did upgrade them originally, but uninstall/reinstall made a world of difference.

Great work Parallels. I'll be ordering another 21 copies shortly!

Apologies Andrew, but I couldn't find the topic to which you were referring. And are you asking if I have QT from Trolltech installed? If so, I believe the answer is no. At least I did not intentionally install it. Maybe it came with something else. Assuming I do have it, could you please point me to the topic/solution to which you were referring?

Much thanks, and by the way--EXCELLENT PRODUCT! A must have for ANYONE with a Mac and a need to run one or two Windows apps.

I have just purchased Parallels and I'm satisfied with the overall performance, but...

* Improved USB stability and broader device support
(USB devices support should be stable at the moment)

...you are far from that. I have tested several USB devices with no luck, specially my Garmin eTrex Legend C GPS receiver, as I noted in the dedicated "not working USB devices" thread. This is one of the main reasons of many people to buy Parallels, so I suggest you to fix it as a priority.

Parallels Shared Folders also do not work quite correctly; some times it denies access to the files.

When I launch Parallels, I get this message before Windows itself launches (waiting for me to reply before Windows is started)…

The virtual machine being started is going to switch VMX mode on. Parallels Desktop has detected that VMX mode is already activated by another running application. If that application will stop VMX, the virtual machine may behave unpredictably. Click Ok to start the virtual macine with VMX support, or click Cancel and edit VT-x settings.

What other application might have activated VMX mode - how do I find out what's causing this in order to fix it?!

Me too. I think it's Parallels itself

For example:
- shut down the guest OS
- edit the configuration
- turn off VT-x
- no complaints

The best solution here is to map ctrl+alt to be treated as altgr in your guest operating system configuration (X11?). This is a default behaviour on many distros, just like on Windows.

This does however not work if you have to access a remote X11 unix server through a citrix connection running under windows...
