Quicken for Windows in a Non Sync Folder

I share my desktop and documents between Mac Big Sur and Win 10 Pro. I want to store my Quicken Win data file in a non-synced folder. Not particular if it is on the Mac or Win side. I will generate backups in Quicken to a Folder in docs that will be synced and thus backed up in iCloud.

I would also like to know if files in the non-synced folder will be backed up by Time Machine and/or SmartGuard. My searching for answers seems to indicate that as long as space is not at a premium, it is fine to run both. But I want to be sure. I am still not clear on how this all works.
