I tried again this morning using the edit of the Registry doing the copy and paste and then restarting the VM. Not only didn't I get the option to install the update BUT the option to get the latest updates is greyed out with a message that "this option is not available due to your organization's policy". Don't have a clue what that is about as the iMac and the Windows VM are my personal computers. Any suggestions? Thanks
What part of the world are you in? Major updates are rolled out in some (unknown to anyone but MS) specific order to the world.
I'm a bit down the road from you (DC). I'm trying to determine why the update schedule is so strange. I beta test (WIndows Insider)all five versions of the current software. I wonder if that is why I got the update so early?
I've been having issues with updating the Windows insider build I've been using. I started getting issues in the summer last year and then started getting a message telling me my build would expire on 15/09/2024. I was (am?) in the canary channel and this is what I see in "windows specifications" Edition Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview Version 23H2 Installed on 02/02/2024 OS build 26040.1000 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26040.1000.0 I tried the registry hack, but don't get any updates offered other than sporadically this ; "Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.421.1341.0) - Current Channel (Broad)" which seems to be repeatedly offered I have a MacBook Air M1 and am running Parallels 20.2.0 Any suggestions ?
I had the same issue and there is another thread in the Parallels Desktop with Apple Silicon forum on this site that had a different solution (aside from the Registry Hack and the Permissions Hack - neither of which worked for me) but this solution worked yesterday. Check it out. Not difficult and didn't take took long (though I did walk away from my iMac). What is latest released Windows 11 ARM, and how do I get it?
Can confirm that the Registry Editor "hack" posted at the beginning of this thread did the trick on my Windows 11 ARM Pro O/S which had been stuck at 22H2 for the longest time. Question about this approach though....how do we make an update that allows future updates?
I too am stuck on 22H2. I would really not prefer to hack anything to regain windows pro updates. If this is a bug that will be fixed in a future Paralles update ( running Parallels 20 ) I'm good with that. Just would like to know sumthin thanx,Don
I could upgrade from 22H2 to 24H2 by following the instructions here Windows 11 Arm ISO files | Microsoft Learn Download Windows 11 Arm64 Standard procedure and no hack. Parallels Desktop 20 on MacBook Pro M2
MacBook pro M1 pro user here, Windows 11 pro, Parallels 20.2. Normally the way I get from one feature update to the next is by searching the forums for a registry hack. (23H2 was an exception and surprisingly showed up the normal way.) But this time, none of the posted hacks worked for me. I've never needed to download an ISO file for an update, so thanks for showing how. It worked.
I worked with Parallels Tech support and they had me do essentially what's been mentioned about the registry changes. I had been stuck on 22H2 since early November and now I'm current. A user mentioned here mentioned the need to revert the changes after successfully updating to get future updates and Parallels tech support agent said the same thing.
Registry hacks did not work for me so I updated to 24H2 via ISO method on 02.01.25. But Windows update history still shows as running 23H2. Does anyone who upgraded via ISO have this problem, and/or know how to make windows update history show the correct version?
It depends where you look. Both my Intel and M1 Macs last updated with 2025-01 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 (KB5050094) last week. On both of them, if I look in Settings, About, Windows Specifications, I see Windows 11 Pro Version 24H2. There again, on the ARM version, if I look at the top of Windows Update, Update History, I see Feature Updates Windows 11, version 23H2, installed last summer, with 24H2 first appearing under Quality Updates as 2024-09 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for arm64-based Systems (KB5043178), installed in the autumn. On the Intel machine, I see under Feature Updates, Windows 11, version 24H2 Successfully installed on 09/10/2024 and Windows 11, version 23H2 Successfully installed on 26/08/2024. It is a minor curiosity but, so long as they both continue to update regularly, I am not inclined to bother about the difference.
Didn't work for me. I can download the ISO file fine. When I try to mount it, I just get a "sorry, there was a problem mounting the file" message?
Just added the registry keys as mentioned in the first page of this thread, and Windows Update now agrees to update my VM stuck to 22H2 so far.
