WinXP in Parallels on Sonoma: Can I use Clonezilla image of XP?

Hi, I am new to VMs. I am trying to get my XP system on an old computer running in a VM in Mac Sonoma. On new computer I have Mac Sonoma, 6950 XT GPU, intel 14700K. Audio interface is USB 2.0 RME BabyFace Pro.

I already made a CloneZilla image of the XP system drive.

What I need the XP system in a VM for is so that I can use some music production programs I had on XP. One of them uses a USB dongle for authorization. So curious if my use case already implies some obstacles.

Any tips for getting this sort of setup working?

I assume you made an image file of Windows XP using Clonezilla. This is how i would proceed. Make a bootable USB drive of the Clonezilla live ISO. If i remember correctly, the Clonzilla website provide a utility called Tuxboot. After making the bootable USB drive, add the Clonezilla image file/folder of Windows XP. Then create a Parallels VM for Windows XP. In the VM settings under boot options, select 'Select boot device at startup' or similar. Boot the VM and press key to enter menu to select boot device. Connect USB to VM with the Devices menu (select the USB drive). If USB drive is not detected, try stopping and restarting the VM. After setting the boot device to the USB drive, things should boot into Clonezilla unless there is issue.

I left out details. This is not for beginners, there are issues that could occur that require creative troubleshooting and workaround. My experince has been it is easier to do fresh install of Windows XP in VM.
