Windows flickers in 'Single Window' mode

Hello Ron,

I've asked our developers. They have not heard of the issue you are describing.
Could you please provide us with some additional information for we could reproduce it in-house?

- When did you last reboot your Mac?
- Do you have more than one VM? If you do, are they all having this issue?
- What is your VM RAM and Video memory?
- If "DirectX Shaders (experimental)" option on Video tab in Configuration Editor is enabled or disabled?
- What applications are running on Mac side?

Could you also send me a screenshot of Task Manager when video/audio flickers?
Open Processes tab and enable "Show processes from all users".

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Xenos

same problem here...

I'm having the same problem : windows flicker, edges of windows remain on the screen, ghost images of closed windows , slow respond....it's very hard to get any work done .

I tried with a new(clean) harddisk from de Windows XP installer CD, version 5582 or 5584, deleting .mem and .sav files, changing memory settings but the problem remains.

It also happens without any program running in XP and often, after a new install, the problem is gone but after a few minutes it reappears.

My computer : MacBook Pro, 2,16GHz, 2GB ram, OS 10.4.11. I hope it can be fixed soon, thanks.

Hi Xenos,

I'm rebooting my Mac every once in a while. It doesn't help.
I have exactly one VM.
Memory = 768MB,
Video Memory = 24MB.

(I tried playing with both to no avail).
DirectX Shaders (experimental) is disabled.
The flickering occurs even when no applications are running.

As noted above, downgrading to the older version solves the problem.
Any help would be most welcome.

Screen Flicker issue as well.

Here's the basics

Problem Machine:

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 3 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: IM51.0090.B09
SMC Version: 1.9f4

Parallels Build 5584

Flickering and blocky Vista VM

I'm having the same issue also.
MacBook Pro, 2.66, 4 gig ram, 200g 7200 hd
Paralells build 3.0.5584
Vista Business - only one VM on mac.

Blocky display as well as flickering.
NOTE: The problem almost always happens if the mac goes into sleep mode for any length of time. Upon waking, the Vista VM display is filled with large block's of grayscale pixels in an alternating zig zag pattern. The only way to remove it is to re-start the VM.

QUESTION: How do I downgrade from 5584 to 5160? Will the older version install over the newer version?
-Calvin

Hello Calvin,

this is how I downgraded : open the 5584 image file, run the uninstaller ( it removes only the program, not the windows harddisk) and then run the installer 5160.

Hi Viktor and Calvin,

Actually I just installed 5160 on top of 5584, and it worked, but you can't be too careful if you choose Viktor's method.

Works great but one thing...

Hi Guys,

Thanks to Viktor and Ron for their downgrade methods... Both methods worked for me:) But unfortunately upgrading back to 5582 or 5584 from 5160 still resulted in "flickering windows". Which leaves us at Build 5160 which doesn't seem to be to much of a problem since the parallels tools from Build 5584 are still installed but I would like to know what functionality we may be loosing or conflicts we might have by running 5160 with the 5584 tools.

Please let me know if I'm just being paranoid or if anyone has seen any adverse affects with running this setup.

Thanks,

moradai

Hello Moradai,

It is possible that DirectX (experimental) option and OpenGL will not be supported on a VM with such configuration.

Best regards,
Xenos

Still an issue in build 5600

Just to keep the thread alive, this is still a problem for some machines with the latest build of Parallels.

Guys,
Please specify your Mac OS versions.
Please also attach screenshots with flickering on them.

Thank you.

MacBookPro 2.16 ICD
2GB RAM
80GB HDD
Build 5584

My Image came from my work PC using transporter. Flickering badly. Did the usual stuff everyone listed in this thread. Then ran ChkDsk on it. It started out flickering and got much better along the way. I will keep everyone posted.

Well, back to the drawing board...this did nothing. Now I am getting a svchost.exe error. Going to uninstall Parallels tools and re-install and if nothing works, going to roll back to earlier version.
