Windows file associations for office files changed to pages/numbers

Hi:
Last night:
- I applied the latest updates from Microsoft which included quite a few of MS Office 2010/2013 changes
- I shutdown my windows 7 64 bit VM, and I updated some of the Adobe Creative Cloud apps to the latest version: photoshop, illustrator, muse, media encoder and animate cc & mobile device packaging (formerly called Flash).
This morning:
After I started windows 7, I noticed the file associations for the office documents were messed up - they were handled by pages & numbers. The default browser was set to IE. I like & use FF as my default browser.
Anyone experienced this or similar, where the file associations get messed-up on the windows side?
I am using yosemite and parallels 11.1.2.

Thanks
