Windows 8 x64 RTM via BootCamp Hideously Slow

Hi,

Has anyone else experienced the following. I'm running Mountain Lion and Parallels Desktop 8. I have a windows 8 x64 BootCamp partition set up which works like a dream when I boot into windows.

Using PD7 I was unable to create a bootcamp virtual machine as the option was missing. I upgraded to PD8 in the hope that this would now be fixed. After installing PD8 the option to set up a VM based on bootcamp is now there (hurray!). It seems to be booting the VM but it's hideously slow. It's taken 15 minutes so far and not yet reached the login screen.

Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks, it's really odd. It seems just generally slow. It takes a while to get to the VM BIOS page and then if I enter the BIOS, keypresses don't really respond and its slow, just like the bootup process. Something seems wrong at quite a low level to me.

Is there any update on this issue? I've tried a reinstall of Mountain Lion and a full remove and reinstall of Parallels 8 and still is exactly the same :(

Ok. Now this is getting silly. I tried a demo of VMWare Fusion to see if there was a general problem with my machine. When VMWare Fusion is running, Parallels speeds up to full speed. As soon as I suspend the VMWare VM, it crawls back to a halt.

Has anyone had chance to look at my problem report?
 
I run Windows 8 Preview within Parallels 8 on a retina Macbook as a VM only. The Macbook was just restored at the Apple store last month. And obviously Windows 8 Preview was recently released. When it starts it is very slow. I can get it to speed up by logging out of Windows 8 and logging back in. Then it goes like lightening. I tried creating a snapshot with me logged out of Windows to hopefully speed things up the next time. But that doesn't help because when I restore from snapshot it automatically logs me back in and it's slow again. I repeat the logout and log back in and it goes fast again every time. I plan to purchase Windows 8 so I hope this gets fixed!

could you please do one more thing for us? For stopped VM go to Virtual Machine - Configure - Hardware - Boot order and paste:
vm.assert=1
After that start VM, wait for high CPU usage to start, wait for ~5 min (!), create a Problem Report and give us an ID.

I have a similar issue. My VM runs hideously slow as well, however, I have a work around that seems to work. Try this:

When you start up your VM, put your host OS to sleep. Wake up your Mac and Parallels will run like normal. It's a pain, but I hope they get this fixed soon.

I've been a PD user since version 4. I hope they at least respond soon, otherwise I've been seriously considering VMWare Fusion.
