Windows 8.1 update Parallels Desktop 9 VM Fails

I can't download the update. I gets to 50 percent indicates installing, then goes back and restarts the download. This has been occurring since yesterday afternoon. I'm open to any and all suggestions. It takes about an hour or so to get to 50%. I am running Windows 8 and just updated to Parallels Desktop 9 from 8 on an iMac late 2009 Mountain Lion OSX. I have found on the web others posting similar situations, but no responses. Very frustrating.
