Windows 7 Crashing - Cannot Create Snapshot

I was running my Windows 7 VM when the host Macbookpro crashed (grey screen of death). After rebooting the Mac, and starting Parallels, when I try to start the Windows 7 virtual machine, a window pops up for 1 second stating "Cannot Create Snapshot," then Parallels crashes.

I can start other VMs just fine. I can mount the virtual HDD and access files, but don't want to have to start all over again if I don't have to.

My Mac's working just fine and I have plenty of free drive space.

Any suggestions on repairing the VM?

Hi Jim,

Please disable Smart Guard option and check if you're able to start Windows 7 Virtual Machine. Please follow the steps given :

1. Start Parallels Desktop -> Click Virtual Machine menu -> Select Configure -> Click Options tab and select Backup.

2. To disable snapshots creation, click the SmartGuard menu and choose "Disabled".

3. Close the configure window and start Windows Virtual Machine and check how it goes.

Thank you for your help. This didn't work, however it did point me in a helpful direction.

The problem appears to be related to the Undo Disk option. If I disable the undo disk, I can boot my windows 7 VM, however if after booting, shutting down successfully and rebooting several times to clear things out, re-enabling the undo disk causes it to crash on start.

Hello,

Are you sure you would like to use UNDO disks option? Because it does not save your current session. So basically what is going on: when Mac has crashed, Windows crashed as well and these unpredictable "changes" were written to the virtual disk. When UNDO is enabled, the disk is starting to boot from the moment it was crashed -> improperly. You may consider to use the virtual machine without UNDO disks option as a workaround(because virtual disk already has issues), but you may also create a separate snapshot each time if needed (Virtual Machine -> Create a snapshot).
