Windows 10 freezing/pausing with El Capitan notifications

Hi Marcus, please update El Capitan to the latest build Mac OS X 10.11.1 and check how it works.
 
No joy. I've been experiencing this issue as well and have been watching this thread...

I updated to the latest version of El Capitan last night [10.11.1] and have the latest published Parallels installed [11.0.2 (31348)] and every time I get a google chat or e-mail notification in Chrome on the host, the guest display/OS is frozen until I dismiss it. Once I dismiss it, the guest OS seems to get whatever I was trying to do while it was frozen - for example the menu item I was clicking on at just after it froze is applied after I dismiss.
 
I have the same problem with El Capitan 10.11.1, Windows 8.1, and Parallels 11.0.2 (31348). Very annoying and counter productive. Unless fixed soon, I will take VMWare's competitive upgrade offer.
 
I had someone of Parallels tinkering on my settings today on distance and although he really configured everything to a more optimal performance, this issue has not gone. Curious to see, however, that the notification only freezes the desktop of the main screen and not of my extended display. This needs to be fixed asap because it is really getting annoying.

In the Apple Settings it says: Notification Center shows your alerts in the upper-right of your screen, WITHOUT INTERRUPTING WHAT YOU'RE DOING.... Can someone from Parallels update us on this issue please? It's been going on for a while, ever since the release of El Capitan.
 
I just upgraded last weekend finally, hoping most of the issues had been resolved. I'm running OSX 10.11.1 and Parallels Desktop 11.0.2 (31348) and have encountered the same issue. It doesn't look like the VM is locking but that I'm locked out of interacting with it, mouse clicks, keyboard input is blocked while the notification is being displayed.

Edit: Also thought I would point out that when doing a screen recording with Quick Time used to work in previous OSX Yosemite and now it does not. I was trying to record the File Explorer opening, then after moving the window - it would close and re-open for some reason (my guess is the video driver).

Same for me - Parallels Desktop 11.0.2 (31348) on El Capitan 10.11.1 With Win8.1, i've now turned off notifications in sys pref on OSX, has stopped freezing but not ideal
 
Here also a me too: Parallels 11.0.2 (31348) + OSX 10.11.1 + Windows 10 Pro.
It seems the interaction continues but the screen freezes so you won't see the result until you click away the notification. On the second screen there is no problem. I imported the same VM into VMWare Fusion 8 and no problems there...

Again I don't recall this happening before El Capitan. Any help or insight to a feature I need to check or uncheck in the settings of Parallels 11 would be much appreciated. I have also checked to make sure there isn't an update that I might have missed, but I have the most current version.

Am I the only one or anyone else run into this?

I'll add my voice to this conversation and say that I'm having the exact same issue since upgrading to El Capitan. I'm running Parallels
11.0.2 (31348) and OS X 10.11.1 (15B42). This is clearly a Parallels issue and I sure hope they fix it soon. Just to know that Parallels acknowledges the issue would be nice.
 
Okay, I just wanted to share an update. I have a dual-monitor setup at the office, on the monitor that the notification pops-up on, it seems like there is a "snapshot" of the screen at the time it displays essentially appearing to "freez" the VM (Windows). I don't know much about the underlying tech, but it may be some kind of "overlay" thing Apple is doing with the multi-desktop/full-screen features in OSX 10.11 when the VM is in full-screen.

So what makes this interesting, on the second monitor I can fully interact with it and the display continues to render (eg play video, scroll a Web page), but on the monitor where the pop-up exists it's like it's displaying a screenshot of the VM screen underneath the notification pop-up. I can move windows to that screen (using the keyboard Win+Left or Win+Right) when I close the pop-up, the screen finally refreshes.

I'd take video if I could but something changed and QuickTime doesn't properly record video of the VM either.
 
Same issue at play for me. OS X notifications freeze the screen but the system executes your keyboard, mouse movements and clicks once the notification turns off. Turning off OS X notifications is not a solution rather a work around and not a particularly good one at that. El Capitan 10.11.1 (15B42), Parallels

I have same problem. Parallels 11.0.2, OS X 10.11.1. VM is Windows 7 Pro. Stuff like a new Outlook message completely freezes the machine. I have turned off the Outlook notifications which has allowed a less frustrating work day... :(

I found a temporary solution and inform to support of parallels.
For solution:
1. run any your needed for work VM(Windows any version, Linux or other) on full screen
2. Run QuickTime Player on host OS (Macintosh) and click "File->New Screen Recording", on dialog click to record
3. Activate your VM window and click on green button (make this VM as window)
4. After your VM was windowed then click on his green button again (make this VM full screen again)
5. Don't forget QuickTime Player screen recording to stop, and close.
Voila !!! It all working for time before you make your computer is lock or restart.
After your computer is lock you must go to step 2.
After you restart, go to step 1.
Enjoy, before parallels fix this bug.

At home I have a single monitor that I use, and the OSX notifications don't seem to interfere with the VM while running full screen. It only seems cause an issue when I'm at the office using 2 monitors. Can anyone else confirm this behavior as well?
 
Same issue here. Any notification from my Mac (Mail, Wunderlist, Outlook, Safari tab time-out, etc.) that comes in, my Win10 VM completely freezes until the Notification goes away or is dismissed.

Running the latest 10.11.1 (15B42) version of El Capitan, Parallels running 11.0.2 31348. Just sent in trouble ticket.

Also, performance is just plain bad switching back and forth between Mac and Windows - I thought the new Parallels was to improve performance? Not good.

I also have the same issue. Extremely annoying. I use multiple VM's. WinXp, Win7, Win8.1 and Win10 and the problem is apparent across the board. I have submitted a support request. The VM just completely pauses during all OS X notifications until it dismisses. Then everything returns to normal.

One thing I have noticed is for me at least it seems to be related to using all displays in full screen mode. When the problem is apparent the only way I can get it to work properly again is to close Parallels and restart the Mac. When I start Parallels again as long as I only use a single screen in full screen mode it works OK. But I do need multiple monitors most of the time. As soon as I enable multiple monitors in full screen mode the problem re-appears again. I put up with it for as long as I can then restart OS X again and use single screen full screen mode again. It's a pain.

Please fix this Parallels.
 
To add weight to the issue the same is happening for me. I am on latest Parallels and El Capitan and when notification alert appears I am unable to type anywhere within the Windows 10 VM. I can move the mouse around the VM but cannot select any window or type anywhere until the alert has been dismissed.
 
Just thought I would follow up that I am still having the same issue that I had when I started this thread. I have the most up to date OS X and Parallels 11 as of this writing. What really throws a wrench into it for me, is that there can be days where the screen doesn't freeze, and it acts like how we all remember. I am trying to pay more attention to what I am potentially doing differently, but so far I can't figure it.

I am also running dual monitors, where I have Windows on one monitor, and OS X on the other monitor. Any notification will cause the Windows screen to freeze but you can still input information (numbers in a spreadsheet) that will appear when the screen un-freezes. The OS X monitor has no issues what so ever in freezing, if I happen to be on that side when a notification pops up.
