Will Parallels work in Snow Leopard?

Can we get a solution?

No, it wasn't addressed and my guess it still hasn't been because it doesn't work and support doesn't have an answer. Hopefully they can release an update for the 64-bit version, they've only had several months since the announcement to prepare. I've always preferred Parallels to the competition.

 

Nor does the article say anything at all about Parallels 3.0. Are they going to update it to work or not?

 

Don't even try 4.0 with 64bit enabled on boot up

Here is what I just posted to their support group;

Just installed family pack, Apple Store purchased copy of Snow Leopard...default installation on 15" 3.06ghz Unibody Macbook Pro. 4gigs or RAM.

I have the com.Apple.Boot.plist file set with the statement:

<string>"-v" "arch=x86_64"</string>

This works as I have verbose boot up display (which also displays the the kernel extensions for Parallels are not loading) and I can verify via "Finder / about this Mac / Software" display tells me that 64bit extensions are loaded.

Re-installed Paralleles Desktop v. 4.0 (build 3844) but the Parallels extensions still do not load. Error pop up message says "Drivers failed to load"...Please re-boot the Mac. Obviously that doesn't fix anything.

Unless they do some re-coding for a new version or a patch. It is just best to just boot Snow Leopard in 32bit mode so Parallels will work and if you plan on not using Parallels at all for a session...press the 6 and 4 keys on boot up to boot Snow Leopard in 64 bit mode.
Note: if you have verbose booting turned on like I do pressing the 6 and 4 keys will display the 6 and 4 key strokes "ad nauseum". But it doesn't hurt anything as you are not "writing" to any screen prompts.

This is irritating as Snow Leopard developer builds were not limited in seeding to Apple developers.

They knew this was coming.

Hopefully they are going to release *very SOON* a fix.
