Why is my macOS 12 VM so large? M1 Mac Parallels 18

I have created a macOS12 VM and it is 68.75GB, without adding any data or apps. This is far larger than a bare bones install on a Mac is.
There aren't any reclaim space or configuration options either.
Am I missing something?
