Why does Parallels take up so much disk space?

Hi!
So I've been wondering lately, why Parallels is taking up so much space.
When I check the space taken in MAC, it takes up almost 70GB of disk space.
When I check every file in my C:\ disk in windows, I only use 32,6 GB. I'm aware that parallels itself take up disk space. But if I recall when first installing Parallels, It wasn't close to 38GB?
What is taking up so much space, I only have one snapshot, and I have reclaimed all the disk space I can?

Hi @VanB, sorry but files probably were not uploaded.. Can you please send us a technical report while the virtual machine is running? Via Help menu > Send Technical Data...
Please post the report ID here, I will take a look.

Dmitry, I have sent the report as requested. The ID is 277304752. I am sorry that it took me soon long to reply. Have been having problems with my computer crashing and restarting after a windows update. I think that is resolved now after further windows updates. It just seems like my windows.pvm file is really big, over 200 GB. I am only running 3 windows programs on it. Quicken 2016, Quickbooks 2013 and a program called ElkRP which is remote programing software for my security system. Any light you can shed on the situation will be appreciated.

In Parallels Desktop 12.2.0 on MacOS 10.12.4, a Windows 10 VM is taking up over 170GB of mystery space. Windows only sees a 128GB drive. But Parallels claims to be using 300GB on hard disks.

It's not snapshots-- Parallels reports only 22GB for snapshots. It's not multiple disks-- Parallels reports only one hard disk. It's not unpartitioned space on the Windows side-- Windows reports no significant unpartitioned space. It's not multiple VMs because Parallels reports only one VM, which I've confirmed by seeing only one 346GB VM file in Finder.

But the space is definitely getting chewed up, because my Mac is low on disk space.? Anyone know where that mystery 170GB is being used, and how to free it up?

Hi, unfortunately we cannot find the uploaded files.
But did you also check the /Library/Logs/parallels.log folder? How much space does it take?

So, is there a solution to this issue or not? Right now, my Windows will not start because there's not enough space available to start it. This is becoming a weekly occurrence. Parallels is taking 70gb from the mac HD. Now I can't upgrade to the Mac OS and I can't upgrade Parallels. Probably best to get a refund and get rid of it altogether. What a nightmare.
