Why are there two Parallels files of roughly the same size on my Mac?

The actual content of my virtual machine is about 40GB, but I noticed that on my Mac, besides a "Parallels Virtual Machine" file taking up 39GB, there is also a "Parallels VM Hard Disk Image" file occupying 37GB. Together, these add up to nearly 80GB. Why is this happening? Can I delete the latter？upload_2024-11-7_10-16-43.jpg upload_2024-11-7_10-16-43.jpg
 
Going out on a limb here but I think you might look at the word IMAGE and imagine that is a backup of the PVM.
