VM won't boot if Mac is not connected to the net

DOn't know if this has already been reported. (too many posts now to read them all).
I found that if my Mac had no connection to the internet, the VM session would die while booting windows. The only way to prevent this from happening was to modify the VM settings to disable the network for the VM. Obviously that shouldn't be necessary.

What do you mean by "VM session would die"? VM application crash or guest OS fail to boot? Which guest OS by the way?
 
Running XP with SP/2.

What happens is that Windows begins booting up and then it just stops - all you see is a blank screen. The VM session itself is still running and I can press STOP to reset everything. After a number of such failures, I tried disabling network support and then Windows booted up fine (obviously without network support :-)

Are you sure it is dying, mine is just searching and if you leave it long enough, it boots. Probable just need to set a time out timer.
 
Jarvis, I did leave it running for quite a while and nothing was happening - how long did you leave it?

You must be a ham. It seemed like 30 minutes. I know there is a problem but I am thinking is has something to do with how long VM tries to get a connection.
 
My MBP is booting XP great without a internet connection wireless or eithernet. Our hanging boots must have had another cause. It almost like Parallels is giving me updates without my knowledge. I also went through a stage of hanging boots that I thought was caused by having the CD set the real cd. VM was set to boot from HD. I tried it a least 5 times. Finally I left the computer for 30 minutes and it booted. Now it works great either way, CD or iso image. Only problem is if the CD is empty I get an error message.
