Touch ID not working, Windows 11 on ARM Mac

Hi, when I start up the Windows machine, it gives me the option to set up Touch ID functions, but once I enter my passcode nothing happens -- everytime I boot up or lock I am met with the "enter password to set up fingerprint." I know this forum has not been active for aeons but I might get lucky. Thanks.
