System Extension Support in Future Versions of macOS

Hi all.

Apple has announced that kernel extensions are deprecated in 10.15.4 (currently in Beta) and will cease to load/function in a future release.

Is Parallels prepared for this transition to using System Extension frameworks instead of their current kernel extensions? Would it be possible to get access to Beta builds of Parallels for Mac when this is a part of the Parallels Beta?

In the attached screenshot, you can see that 10.15.4 also including one-time warnings to end-users when running software with a kernel extension (this is just an example.)

Hi @AndrewC18, thanks for the heads up. Parallels Desktop requires access to your network, disk, USB, and other devices on your Mac to provide a seamless experience. In macOS Mojave and macOS Catalina, this means you will see dialogs requesting access to these system resources. In future versions of the macOS, this access may take a different form. Parallels works closely with Apple to ensure that this seamless experience of Parallels Desktop continues in all future releases of macOS.
