SMB Shares in MacOS unmount when running 3.0

Hi there,

New to Parallels. I am using my Boot Camp installation as my drive for Parallels. Everything seems to run fine, with one exception....

I have server volumes mounted in the MacOS side that are accessed via SMB (cifs). WHenever Parallels is running, it will boot me from these connected servers every so often.

If Parallels is not running I can stay connected and authenticated to these Volumes all day long.

These same volumes are connected to my Parallels environment because it logs onto my Domain... could this cause this problem?

If so, what is the workaround besides disconnecting these volumes in either environment, as I need to access them from each.

Anyone's advice would be helpful.

OK so thanks for nothing Parallels team... I think I figured this out on my own... switch to Bridged Ethernet... this way your VM gets it's own IP on the network, and therefore is considered its own machine by your domain (assuming of course that you have joined the domain, etc).

Messing around with Windoze, you will discover that you cannot connect to shares on one and host from the same machine with more than one set of credentials. You also obviously cannot connect to the same share twice from the same machine. I believe the disappearing drive issue is caused by this "conflict" - the host sees the Mac and VM as one machine since they have the same IP/credentials, and disconnects one or the other.

Incidentally, setting up for bridged also allows you to remote desktop into your VM... pretty sweet.
