Hi all,

Has anyone ran VM windows 7 from a usb 3.0 flash drive before? hows the performance?

I've tried and it was extremely laggy and cant really do much with it. Are there any settings i should do or configuration in order to make it run smoothly?

Thanks.

Hi Keith, please refer to this article to know how to run virtual machine from external hard disk.
Performance of such virtual machines depends of external storage characteristics (such as data throughput, etc.)
Please review the type of drives that will show the best performance (in decreasing order) :
Flash Drive on Thunderbolt
Flash Drive on USB 3.0
Flash Drive on USB 2.0
Rotational Drive on Thunderbolt
Rotational Drive on USB 3.0
Rotational Drive on USB 2.0
To proceed, transfer an existing virtual machine to appropriate location on the external volume.
NOTE: Virtual machine should be turned off.

Hi thanks paul. I've read all those articles and it doesnt show me the proper settings to run at optimum performace for parallels on usb. As now, parallels is completely un-usable if plug through usb 3.0. Anyone has the same experience?
