Problem synching Palm Treo 755p w/Outlook in Parallels

Bit poster
I get the message at the bottom right of my Parallels Desktop when I hook up my Palm Treo 755p: USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.

However when I click the message, none of what is told to me really helps fix my problem.

I'm using Parallels 4.0 on my Mac to run windows on my Mac. I'm also
synching my Microsoft Outlook with Plaxo for Outlook and that works
fine. My phone synched up just fine with it for a little while, right after
installing the Palm Software, but now it seems Parallels won't
recognize my Palm Treo in order to sync it with the Virtual Machine. I
get the following message over and over again when I hook up my phone,
regardless if I follow the message's instructions. This message occurs
even though I don't even press the sync button on my Palm Treo:

Stop the Palm synchronization and start it again. Click Cancel on the
Palm device's screen to stop the synchronization, then start it again.
The device will be automatically connected to the virtual machine.
Make sure you do not connect any other devices to your Mac when working
with Palm. OK.

I need to find out if the problem is with Microsoft Outlook 2002,
Parallels, or some setting in either of the Programs. I doubt it is an
issue with my phone, its settings, or the USB2.0 cable from the phone
as it will sync fine with my PC.
I have all the correct Palm Software installed and choose to sync with Outlook as a default. This seems to be occurring after the automatic update from Parallels that I received recently, although, that could be a coincidence.

Please help!

I don't use Outlook but have the same problem syncing my 755P with Parallels 4.0. Mine is a very simple sync setup with Palm Desktop. I had no problem syncing with Parallels 3.0, so it would appear that v. 4 has changed in its ability to sync with Palm devices.

Hello, could you please go to the virtual machine configuration window, remove the 'usb Controller 1' for the 'Herdware' group using the '-' button, and add it again with the '+' button.

And please specify does the problem persist when you use any other usb device?

Synching Palm treo 680

Hello,

I have exactly the same problem with my Palm treo 680: when looking under Devices / USB "Palm Handheld" is checked, however it does not synch anyway. After starting the synching the "Palm handheld" in the menu item is alternatingly checked and unchecked. After appr. 1 minute the handheld stops synchronisation for reason of "lost connection". The synching doesn't even start. Under Parallels 3.0 synching functioned more or less without problems.

I have the same problem with a Treo 700p

I get the same error message. The noises sound like the device and the Windows USB connection are not lining up. One gives a disconnecting sound when the phone gives a connecting sound and vice versa.

Synching Palm Treo 755P

HERE'S AN EMAIL EXCHANGE THAT SOLVED MY PROBLEM SYNCHING MY PALM TREO 755P WITH THE LATEST PARALLELS 4.0 VERSION 3810

Thank you for your response.

Uninstalling and reinstalling Parallels Desktop will not affect any data of the Virtual Machine. It will uninstall only the Parallels application.

Please follow the steps provided in previous email and let us know if that helped.

Best Regards,
