PD10: "twitchy" magic mouse with MS apps in Win8.1

I have come across an issue in PD10 that only seems to occur
with Microsoft apps.

I have found that in Visio and Visual Studio 2012, scrolling to be often
times "twitchy". What I mean by that, is that simply touching the magic
mouse, will quite often cause the window contents to scroll wildly. This
can also happen on drop down menus that are longer than the display box
that it presents.

The effect is most often seen in Visio which can be a real
pain, especially when working with very large diagrams.

There is also a less common flip side to this. There are times when the
scrolling can be as sluggish as molasses in January. When this happens,
it does not seem to be any sort of system slowdown, since mouse movement
is quick and crisp. Just scrolling seems to be affected.

Not that all of the above happens whether are applications open on the Mac side
or not and only has to do with scrolling. Also, I have not seen it occur in any
non-MS app.

My system: late 2013 3.2GHz 27" iMac running 10.9.4 w/Thunderbolt Display

Hi Elwood, just posting a quick reply to let you know I have PRECISELY the same problem, and it's frustrating as all get out!

I use MS Visio every day on an MBPr13, often attached to my 27' iMac in Target Display Mode (need the screen real estate for the big rack diagrams and data centre floor layout maps on A3 pages). (I'm running Win7, Office 2010, Visio 2010, on Parallels 9, all on Mavericks on both Macs).

The Visio pages will fly right off the screen with the lightest of touches on the MM. I've researched this top-to-bottom and it seems the only discussions relate to early versions of the MM drivers for Windows (and installing them in bootcamp). I'm just not sure if the same resolution applies to virtualisation, and I really wish someone from Parallels would join the conversation to help us out.

Anyway, if you stumble on a fix of any sort, drop a line here PLEASE.

Hi All,

Please follow the steps suggested below:
1. Start Windows.
2. Go to start & type Run > type %temp% in the run Window & hit return.
3. Go to Folder "PrlToolsPackages"
4. Under "PrlToolsPackages" find set up file > Right click on set up file > Click Run as Administrator .
5. Click Next on Parallels Tools set up on the first screen > Click repair on the second screen and click Next > Click install > Restart Windows once done.
6. Manually adjust Mouse pointer speed as suggested at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/change-mouse-settings#1TC=windows-7 Restart Windows and let us know how does it work.

Try unchecking this option: VM Configuration > Hardware > Mouse & Keyboard > Enable smooth scrolling

Try installing a plugin called smooth scroll in extensions in VS. It will make your life easier.

I had the same problem, the solution in post #4 above did not work, but the one in post #5 (unchecking smooth scrolling) did work. In this case the issue was twitchy *scrolling*, not hypersensitive pointer movement.
BTW mouse pointer speed is not apparently affected by the Control Panel mouse option, selecting "Pointer Options" tab and changing pointer speed. Changing it from full slow to full fast has no effect on actual pointer speed, whether the Windows 8.1 VM is restarted or not. For me the current pointer speed is mostly OK, which is good since I can't seem to adjust it.
