That's funny because one of the reasons I quit using Outlook (2003) in Win XP Pro was that it used up to 100% CPU and was a royal pain in the proverbial.
It turns out that VMWare consumes CPU cycles that aren't shown as a running process. So the real CPU consumption is shown by the graphical chart, but not by the running processes. Visually, it looks like VMWare is just as CPU heavy.
