Parallels update with proxy

When I try to update my software (Build 1970) it says that the parallels website can not be contacted. I can access the website from browsers. Therefore I think this is an issue due to my work requiring me to access the web via a proxy (I have entered this web proxy and port in network preferences). The network preferences do not seem to be picked up by parallels.

How can I get the update process to use a proxy?
