We have paid for Parallels Desktop for Mac Professional, but we do not use or require Parallels Toolbox. Despite this, Parallels Desktop contains multiple prompts, recommendations, and entry points encouraging Toolbox installation.
One example is that Parallels Toolbox is listed directly within Parallels Desktop Preferences, giving the impression that it is part of the core product rather than an optional add-on. This can easily lead users to assume it is something they should install.
There should be an option to completely hide or remove all references to Parallels Toolbox from the Parallels Desktop interface.
The biggest issue is user confusion. As IT administrators, we regularly need to install Parallels Tools, which is a required component for proper VM integration. Because the names are so similar, many users mistakenly believe Toolbox is also required and end up installing it unnecessarily.
The distinction between Parallels Tools (required for virtual machine functionality) and Parallels Toolbox (an optional utility product) is not obvious to non-technical users. The current design encourages accidental installation of a product that some customers neither need nor want.
