Getting anywhere from 1.7 to 2.5 megabits from the nfshost.com link. I'm on a Bell Optimax connection with an 8 megabit down sync rate in downtown Toronto, Canada.

Thanks all for the feedback! 1227 downloads so far. :)

Seems like the Parallels site has more or less returned to normal, so we'll probably wind this down in a few hours and start redirecting people back to the official download.

And that was a couple hours after our mirror site got linked from Digg, engadget, and tuaw.com comments simultaneously.

1.3 MB/sec over FiOS in Portland, Oregon. And the dmg works - I tried downloading from parallels.com first, but the resulting dmg gave a "not recognized" error when I tried to mount it. So thanks for the mirror!

What's wrong with Parallels? I can't even download the latest 3186 build!

Have been trying almost half a day.

Also, we are using the nfshost.com download link for testing. From the "mirror" thread:

Thanks everybody! :)

Wish we could speed up the forum as easily. :-P

975KB/s in London, UK. How do we know this version is real? Parallels don't supply hashes, so who knows what this is.

i can assure you, that at work, ive used the JDW's mirror to download this at least 6 times.. my IDS hasnt picked anything up abnormal and Little Snitch isnt reporting any ports opening or the likes. Its up to you.. but I know, certainly with the links I posted last night, my reputation means more to me than pissing off a bunch of people by uploading hacked software...

Likewise, we are a web hosting company using this event to test/demo a new high-capacity service. It wouldn't behoove us to blow the resulting goodwill by doing something sly.

Thanks JDW and Goron

I Just downloaded 3186 from your links and installed the same on my computer. The whole upgrade process went off without a hitch, using my old profile and existing license code.

It's vastly improved comapred to 1970 - way to go parallels team!!

Thanks all.

The MD5 hashes for both the official download and this faster one match:

macpro:~/Downloads adrian$ md5 -r Par*
0a9d9d7e1140a34674528fabb931a5ed Parallels Desktop 3186 Mac en.dmg
0a9d9d7e1140a34674528fabb931a5ed Parallels_Desktop_3186_Mac_en.dmg

(the one with the underscores is from the faster link)

For the paranoid...

Code:
openssl dgst -sha512 Parallels*
SHA512(Parallels Desktop 3186 Mac en.dmg)= 24dce37e4d61b8124e20f067aa7267f38532e6d3928f872686274488b359ef2f0cad075bdedcde988293a9d8c15d7024f0d14e758b6e4458439ec44e87298782
SHA512(Parallels_Desktop_3186_Mac_en.dmg)= 24dce37e4d61b8124e20f067aa7267f38532e6d3928f872686274488b359ef2f0cad075bdedcde988293a9d8c15d7024f0d14e758b6e4458439ec44e87298782

Download Test Ended

We've gone ahead and ended our mirror test, with outstanding results. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Perhaps some of the nearly 3,000 people who downloaded the Parallels build 3186 release from us can create additional mirrors if still needed. Unfortunately a quick test of the parallels.com site suggests that it may still be necessary. :(

Here's hoping Parallels can figure out their download issues soon. Of course, they could always consider outsourcing. :)

thanks for providing this alternative. It was a great help.

I have attempted to download Parallels 3186 from Parallels several times using my Macbook and every time the download was terminated before it finished.

Finally I use my Windows PC with GetRight to download the file and transfer it to my Macbook. I observed that GetRight "resumed" the download 3-4 times before the download was completed and I suspected that this was the reason why I could not download the file successfully on my Macbook.

I have not yet installed 3186 on my Macbook though.

You can use the Terminal to download the Parallels software from their site, even if it quits on you, using this command:

curl -C - -O http://download.parallels.com/GA/Parallels Desktop 3186 Mac en.dmg

"curl" is a programming for downloading URLs.

"-C -" tells curl to resume partial transfers.

"-O" tells curl to store the file using the filename from the website.

The rest is the URL.

Run this command, then monitor the "Current Speed" column. If it falls to zero or the program aborts, restart it. (If it stalls at zero, hit CTRL-C to stop it.)

I check the log of servers i put yesterday with files for download, logs counting total of 4728 downloads : )

jdw say he count 3000 download !! from servers he provide.......total download 7728 ! downloas in few hours !!

I think the next time parallels need create few mirrors for skip this auto denial of service !!

ADoS lol !

Best regards.

NOTE FOR jdw:

Hey mate i not take only your links, i put my servers, + your 2 irors, + other 4 mirrors, under script, that script rotate to everyperson open : ) in this way the traffic its load balanced a little : )
