Parallels Desktop for Mac 11 - High Sierra - Mac crashes and reboots

Hi all,

I have a 6 month old MacBook Pro, running High Sierra and Desktop for Mac version 11.

For some reason the laptop crashes and reboots when i'm running a Windows 7 VM in Parallels. I've talked to Apple initially, who have just gone down the same route as you can imagine, with disk checking, diagnostics running and so on. So I decided to do my own investigation and have found out that it is indeed Parallels that causes this. If its not running, then it doesn't happen.

I'm temped to upgrade to version 13 as I realise this will probably be the way i'll be led if I contacted Parallels support as this is the version that should support High Sierra, however thats yet another £35.

Does anyone else have any idea if theres a cheaper way to sort this!@?
 
Hi @MatthewR8 , Parallels Desktop 11 for mac is not fully compatible to work with Mac Os high Sierra. Please purchase an upgrade to Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac from our website. You can also try using Parallels Desktop 13 for mac trial before purchasing the upgrade by checking this article.
 
Thanks for the confirmation. I have already upgraded and am trying the trial version. No errors or crashing laptop at the moment so I guess this is the way I have to go.

Well \i thought it was too good to be true! After upgrading to V13, I still have the same issue. I was using Parallels a moment ago and got the Black screen and the laptop rebooted. The strange thing was as well as restarting, the machine showed the 'setting up' display that you normally get when you have upgraded the OS? I guess I now need to escalate this and create a support ticket, Would someone from Support are able to help me escalate this please? I have only had V13 for a few days, so i'm guessing I should be able to get this logged?
 
is there any update on this issue? I'm facing the same problem, and it's made worse because I have to restart my MacBook a couple of times before Parallels starts working again, only for it to crash again within hours or days.

this is entirely frustrating, so could someone from Parallels respond??

I have the same issue. Mac hung and restarted MAC and now when I try to start Parallels it hangs my MAC BookPro.
 
Hi @Michael43, could have been an issue with Mac Hard disk errors. To check the Mac disk for I/O errors presence it's required to use the following Terminal command on the Mac:
Launch Terminal ( Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
Execute the following command:
sudo dmesg
NOTE: You will need to enter your Mac password to run the command. No symbols will be shown due to security measures, so just hit the keys and use return/Enter.
If the output of sudo dmesg command contains I/O error, as the example below,
"disk2: I/O error.
CoreStorageGroup::completeIORequest - error 0xe00002ca detected for LVG "Macintosh HD" (D41ACF9D-27F1-44D4-A4D4-B3ACE45334CF), pv 3E833260-3241-4375-BB0F-972C27A3C457, near LV byte offset = 2024465223680.
disk2: I/O error"
So, please let us know if you see such errors, if not, please send us a Technical Data with "Detailed log message" enabled (Help menu > Send Technical Data...)? This will help us significantly, please reply me back with the report ID number.
