What was deprecated or removed from Parallels Desktop 27.1.0

The following features are deprecated as of Parallels Desktop 27.1.0. They still work in this version, but they will be removed in a future major release of Parallels Desktop. We're retiring low-use features so we can focus on the capabilities most of our users rely on.

Below is the list of features that are no longer supported and will be removed soon:

  • Startup and virtual machine behavior: The "Start when Mac starts" startup mode, selecting a boot device on virtual machine startup, the startup delay option, Adaptive Hypervisor.
  • Dock and recent files: Recent files for guest applications in the Dock, recent files in Windows (File Explorer/Finder), showing the Windows Applications folder in the Dock, showing Windows Taskbar in Coherence.
  • Full Screen and input: Use Windows gamma settings in full screen, scale to fit screen, the F6 shortcut to show and hide Parallels Desktop, the option that makes the mouse pointer stick at window edges.
  • Virtual hardware: The configuration option to add or remove a TPM chip as a virtual device, the floppy disk virtual device. For Linux virtual machines: the "Use Rosetta to run x86 binaries" option in CPU & Memory settings.
  • Command-line tools: Bash completion scripts for Parallels Desktop command-line utilities. macOS now uses zsh as its default shell.

Parallels Desktop 27 for Mac 27.0.3 (58680)

Parallels Desktop for Mac 27.0.3 (58680) update addresses the overall stability and security issues and includes the following additions and improvements:

  • Fixed: Clicking "Properties..." or "Select Partitions..." in virtual machine Hard Disk configuration did not open the settings window.

Windows

  • Fixed: Windows virtual machines would no longer boot after upgrading to Parallels Desktop 27.
  • Fixed: iCloud Drive folders could not be accessed inside Windows virtual machines after macOS was updated to Golden Gate 27.
  • Fixed: Dialog and pop-up windows in Windows applications would open in the background when running in Coherence mode.

Windows

  • Fixed: The "Starting…" window for a shared Windows application (e.g., Microsoft Excel) would remain on screen after the application had already launched in Coherence mode.
  • Security: This update addresses multiple security vulnerabilities in the virtual networking stack, virtual GPU command processing, and VirtIO subsystem, including memory corruption issues, out-of-bounds reads, and privilege escalation vectors.

Parallels Desktop for Mac 27.0.1 Enterprise Edition

  • Fixed: Various policy issues could prevent the correct and consistent application of virtual machine configurations or Parallels Desktop preferences.
  • Fixed: Declarative deployment provisioning options would not apply correctly during enrollment.

Parallels Desktop 27 for Mac 27.0.0 (58628)

The new major Parallels Desktop version 27.0.0 (build 58628) includes many under-the-hood upgrades aimed at better supporting the latest version of macOS. It is designed as Apple silicon-native app, while support for Intel Macs will continue with periodic security and compatibility updates to version 26.

The release delivers the following improvements:

All editions of Parallels Desktop 27 for Mac

  • New: Windows and Linux virtual machines can now use Apple’s SME CPU feature on M4 and M5 chips, which can accelerate matrix-heavy workloads like local AI inference.

Parallels Desktop 27 for Mac Enterprise Edition

  • New: Parallels Desktop for Mac 27 is now certified as "ARM SystemReady SR 3.1 (VE band)", enhancing compliance, improving compatibility with new OS releases, and reducing the risk of unexpected issues.
  • Fixed: An issue prevented a provisioning package from being applied during Declarative Deployment on virtual machines running Windows 24H2.

What was deprecated or removed from Parallels Desktop 27

According to the statistics from the users who participate in the Parallels Customer Experience program, some product features are used very seldom or not at all. We have decided to either stop supporting them or completely remove them from Parallels Desktop and focus on frequently used features and further enhancements.

Below is the list of features that are no longer supported and have been removed in Parallels Desktop for Mac 27:
  • Installing Parallels Desktop 27 on Macs running macOS Ventura 13.
  • Support for Intel Macs.
  • Support for Boot Camp.
  • Travel mode.
  • Unread email badge and new mail notifications for Classic Outlook.
  • Security tab in Parallels Desktop preferences. These respective settings are now controlled remotely by Enterprise Edition administrators. Note: For private users, we recommend protecting your Mac user accounts and virtual machines using standard authentication methods.
  • Shared Bluetooth functionality. Bluetooth devices (e.g., keyboards, mice, or game controllers) connected to your Mac will continue to work normally in virtual machines. Note: To connect a Bluetooth device directly to a virtual machine, consider using a USB Bluetooth dongle.

When will the update be available? I'm on 26.4.1 Business Edition on a system with an M4 chipset and when I have it check for updates it tells me I'm on the latest version

I am not able to download either via the Website nor via the Updater?

I am running MacOS 15.7.9 on 2019 MacBookPro with 16inch Screen & 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9.Screenshot 2026-08-25 at 22.33.09.jpg

> Startup and virtual machine behavior: The "Start when Mac starts" startup mode,

Removal of that feature completely kills everything I use parallels for (persistent Windows-based VMs for "server" applications that don't have Mac versions, or Linux-based VMs for services I want fully isolated)
