Parallels Build 3150 RC2 and Hotfix KB890859

Dev Team,

When using Parallels with Boot Camp the Parallels Tools installation should be aware if KB890859 is applied or not.

As I understand Parallels opens SP2.CAB looking for ntoskrnl.exe compatible with standard PC. Those files are replaced by hotfix KB890859.

So when the tool got installed we receive a message from windows complaining about operating system files being replaced. Also if we open Windows Update we have to reinstall the hotfix.

I have just stated using BootCamp again and have the same issue with constantly being asked to re-install this update after switching between BootCamp and the VM

I have just stated using BootCamp again and have the same issue with constantly being asked to re-install this update after switching between BootCamp and the VM

In my case, the problem appears as Windows Update (either automatic or via web access) repeatedly downloading and installing the KB890859 patch, even though I never boot into XP via BootCamp directly, but rather use a BootCamp partition via Parallels. I thought this was just a Windows bug until I saw it mentioned in a couple of places in this forum.
