Parallels 20 Worked After Migration, Now Refuses Activation – How Can I Recover My License?

Hello Parallels Support Team,

I own a permanent license for Parallels Desktop 20 Standard Edition, registered to my Parallels account.

My old Intel MacBook Pro developed a serious hardware problem involving its AMD Radeon graphics card, causing frequent system crashes and making the computer unreliable and practically unusable for everyday work.

Due to this hardware failure, I was forced to migrate my entire system, including my Parallels Desktop installation and Windows 11 virtual machine, to a replacement Intel MacBook Pro using Apple's Migration Assistant.

Following the migration, Parallels Desktop and Windows 11 initially worked correctly on the replacement MacBook.

However, Parallels Desktop 20.4.1 now requests activation, although I already own a valid permanent license.

I have confirmed that the license is still activated on the old, defective MacBook, which can currently boot only in Safe Mode.

When attempting to deactivate the license on the old Mac using:

prlsrvctl deactivate-license

I receive the following error:

"Your type of license cannot be deactivated."

When attempting to activate the same license on the replacement MacBook, I receive:

"This license is already activated on another Mac."

Both computers have Parallels Desktop 20.4.1 installed.

I am not attempting to use the same license on two computers simultaneously. I simply need to transfer my existing permanent license to the replacement MacBook because the original computer has suffered a serious hardware failure.

Could you please reset or release the existing activation so I can activate Parallels Desktop 20 on my replacement MacBook?

I no longer need this license activated on the defective MacBook.

I can provide the license key and any additional information privately if required.

Thank you for your assistance.
