Hi,
Parallels Desktop 27 introduced the new Metal-based graphics engine for Windows 11 ARM VMs, with support for OpenGL 4.3.
Are there any plans to bring the same graphics architecture and OpenGL 4.3 support to Linux ARM virtual machines?
I'm currently running Ubuntu 26.04 ARM on an M1 Max MacBook Pro. The Linux VM exposes OpenGL 4.0 through Mesa/VirGL, which is becoming a limitation for applications such as Gazebo using the Ogre2 rendering engine.
Since Parallels 27 now has a Metal backend capable of supporting the OpenGL 4.3 feature set for Windows ARM guests, I'm wondering whether this backend could also be exposed to Linux guests through an updated Linux/Mesa/VirtIO graphics stack.
Is Linux support for this new graphics engine on the roadmap? If so, is it something that could potentially appear in a Parallels Desktop 27.x update, or is it more likely to require a future major version?
More generally, are there plans to improve the Linux ARM virtual GPU beyond the current VirGL implementation?
Thanks!
