OneDrive sync of Excel files not working when opening in Parallels

Hi there!

I'm using Parallels in coherence mode as the default option for opening .xlsx files. I've noticed an issue that when I open up .xlsx files from my OneDrive on Mac, they don't open up in a OneDrive synced mode, but rather in the "Saved to this PC" mode. It looks like it's opening files from \\Mac\OneDrive-(MyName)

This is however not what I want. I want the files to open in the mode where I can collaborate with coworkers and do live edits.

If I actually browse to OneDrive in Parallels Windows and open up the same file, it actually opens up in the correct mode:

Notice how AutoSave is on and there's the collaboration icon after the file name.

Is there any way to make the files open up in this synced mode straight from opening them to Parallels Excel from my Mac?

Did you ever figure this out?
Unfortunately not. I tried to solve this with Parallels support, but I could not explain this in a way that they would understand no matter how I tried. It seems to me that Parallels is not suitable if you're in an organization that uses the Office365 suite.

Very annoying. But no hiccups as long as you open excel/word docs in windows explorer? Is that what you do? Do you just keep Windows OneDrive on or both mac and Windows onedrive?

That's right - it does work flawlessly if you don't use coherence mode (the mode where Windows Excel opens up in its own window from OSX) and instead just use Windows fully and find the excel/pptx/word files via Explorer. This, however, requires you to have OneDrive installed also on the Windows side.
