Just upgraded to Apple M4...REGRET IT.
Not sure what the parallels virtual machine software has to do with running newer or older chips in the Mac. that should'be be an issue.
ISN't THAT THE PURPOSE of having a VM???
Ive got an $40,000 thermography camera that runs on Windows 7. This is why I have a specific VM machine to run that hardware. Come to find NONE of my VMs work now.
Did you not plan this out about why people need these virtual machines..I don't care what chip s in the Mac..a VM machine should be just that...it shouldn't care about hardware in my mac...let the VM machine deal with the hardware. thats why we use it.
Now I don't know what to do..I have patients coming here..and I cannot use Parallels..it puts me in a very horrible position financially!
 
The problem you have is not a testing problem - it is a lack of understanding on your part that the M1-M4 chips are based on an ARM architecture and CANNOT run apps compiled for an Intel architected Virtual Machine. No one has ever said that you can migrate a VM created for an Intel-based Mac to the new Apple silicon chips. The only forward migration path involves installing a new Windows 11 designed for the ARM architecture, migrating your data (cannot migrate apps), and then installing new 64-bit apps on the new VM that were designed and compiled for that version of Windows.

Your options are to either buy a PC running an Intel machine and installing your apps on that, or getting apps compatible with ARM. My guess is that you'll have to take the first option. In the meantime, just use your original VM on the Intel-based Mac.
 
Sorry to be that guy but did you do NO research what so ever? - Its been known ever since Apple Released Silicon that Parallels would NOT run Intel VMs - A VERY WELL KNOWN FACT. They have now started to explore implementing Intel VM's but alas it's not there yet. May I suggest that you a) - Tone down your aggression and read perhaps one or ten million of the posts about this before slaying everything and everyone with your aggressive post.

That's because Microsoft has x86 emulation in Windows 11 ARM64. Not 100% perfect, but it's improving with each build. AVX and AVX2 support is not present yet unless you use Windows Insider and select the "Canary" builds for example.

Although I feel your pain as I went through something similar a few years ago when I bought a M1 Mackbook Air coming from an Intel Macbook Pro, if you depend on a $40,000 machine, I'd buy a PC just dedicated for that. You can get them now for less than $500 and you won;t have to worry about compatibility anymore. I only use Parallels for Mac because I have my pilot logbook for over 4 decades on a program that only runs on Windows, and I also have all my fiances on Quicken (I own it but don't like how Quicken for Mac works). When the day comes to upgrade this laptop, I'll just leave Parallels for Mac on this M1 laptop and use it only for those 2 PC programs and never update anything.

This is why hardware research matters, especially when considering a new platform. If you are using it for your hardware of considerable cost, it's worth the time to make sure the new hardware you bring it is compatible.

When I tell folks that depend on Windows apps or Intel-based Mac apps about migrating to Apple Silicon, I say try your important apps first. You are fortunate in that your important apps run without issue. Unfortunately, that isn't the case with everyone.
 
The only app I had problems with was ForScan and I got it to work by turning on "Safe Emulation". There are a bunch of emulation compatibility settings
