No network connection on Windows XP VM

I'm running Parallels 3.0 build 5882, with Leopard 10.5.1, on an iMac
When I boot directly into XP, I can connect to the internet with my wireless network (Airport Extreme). I also see the other computer on my network.

Using the VM, I have lost the network connection. I have tried both using the Shared Network and Bridged Ethernet the VM configuration. Under the VM, when I go into Control Panel->Network Connections, there are no connections (although the wireless connection shows when booted directly into XP).

Under the OSX System Preferences->Network Airport is green, Parallels...-Guest (??) is connected and green with ip 10.37.129.2, and Parallels NAT is connected and green with ip 10.211.55.2. Build in Firewall is red and not connected.

If I try to set up a connection, the Network Wizard says that it cannot find any network hardware.

The VM network worked last week (I think). Any clues?

Just started having this problem

I can't connect to the internet from my win xp vm under mac os x 10.52. This had been working since december.
 
Ditto Jeff - suddenly the LAN has "limited or no connectivity."

I seem to remember that there was some sneaky Unix workaround that killed an offending script, but when I updated the problem had not recurred...only today.

Do you remember who recommended the unix workaround. Was it a forum member or the Parallels support team. I opened a support request but I'm not holding my breath.

Hello all,

Network connection can be lost for a number of reasons. We generally ask the output of several commands to analyze the issue for each unique case:

- Open Terminal on Mac side (Applications -> Utilities) and run ifconfig;
- On Windows side click "Start" -> "Run", type cmd and press Enter, run ipconfig /all;
- In the CMD window run tracert www.parallels.com.

You can try the following workaround:

Check Parallels NAT and Host-Guest ports status in Mac System Preferences -> Network.

If they are red or yellow, open Parallels NAT configuration, choose "Off" in IPv4 drop-down menu and click Apply. Do the same for Host-Guest adapter.

Shut down Parallels and reboot your Mac. Now go to Mac System Preferences -> Network again and choose "Using DHCP" in IPv4 drop-down menu for Parallels NAT and Host-Guest adapters. Click "Apply" for both of them.

Network Connectivity issue

So I got a little further on this. I discovered by accident that network connectivity worked for a few moments after the winxp vm is started and then the trouble occurred.
A Kaspersky anti-virus pop-up occurred around this time complaining that its patterns were out of date. Getting suspicious I turned off Kaspersky and then restarted the vm. This fixed the connectivity problem. However the minute I start Kaspersky it breaks.
Do you have a solution for this.
 
I noticed the same issue yesterday. I use my VM just to run solidworks, and now I can't connect to my school license server so I can't use it :(.

Does anyone know how to check if there has been a windows update recently that might have broke it?

I use antivir for antivirus, and I guess I can try removing that.

Owatagoosiam, please ask Kaspersky support or try another antivirus software.

Mackworth, did you try the workaround from my previous post? Could you provide more information? Please see my post above.

So Kaspersky Virus software was bundled with Parallels software for Mac. This kind of led me to believe that the 2 products played nicely together.
