No internet connection

I have followed all the help procedures furnished by Parallels and am still unable to connect to my wireless home system. Any suggestions for this non-tech senior citizen is appreciated
My Stuff;
iMac OS 10.6.8, Cable modem, Amped Dual Band Router, Parallels 8, Windows XP SP3

Hi Ron,

Please (re)install Parallels Tools as suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/4841 (make sure to disable Windows firewall and Antivirus while installing Parallels Tools).
