macOS Big Sur/Parallels 16.1.1: don't connect usb external devices

Thank you Adam.
I just tried your suggestion, manually adding PD in the Privacy tab as illustrated, but with no luck: nothing changes, even with a restart or Parallels Tools reinstalled :(
Don't know what else to try, hope the customer support to intervene
Hello, did you check the issue with Parallels Desktop 16.1.2?

@maria, any news about it ? It's still impossible to use usb dongles or others usb that is not a memory stick. MANY months has passed without solution. It's going a massive switching to the concurrent software :/

I also have the same problem. I can see my external 2 tb SSD drive as a share folder but when I want to connect it directly to the virtual machine nothing happens. Reinstalled Parallels tools and gave full hard drive access to Parallels but the problem still exist.

That's for USB disks but I can use any usb device, example USB network card, USB barcode scanner, etc. All of them are detected, none of the can be connected to the VM. With 15.1 and Catalina all was working fine.

it worked for me too.... thanks

Same here, I can see the device listed in Computer Mangement, but it is not mounting. May request refund for 16 and go back to 15 if this continues.

The problem with broken USB devices is only in the business version Parallels 16. I have on MacBook a standard version and it works normally there. For example, I connect a USB/RS232 converter and the system prompts me to confirm the authorization and then everything works. Unfortunately, the business version does not receive this prompt and the device does not work. For a USB drive, you can work around this by setting <Usb>1</Usb> in the xml file, but other device do not work this way.

Hello. I am still having trouble recognizing other USB devices inside the virtual machine. External drives work but other USB devices are not recognized. I'm using PARALLELS 16.1.2 (49151) on BIG SUR 11.2.3

Surely you have a Business version, right?

Hi, at least for me connecting USB devices (I tested with smart card readers) will work (Parallels Standard 16.1.3 on Mojave 10.14.2, VM Big Sur 11.2.3) if I connect USB reader once logged into my VM and then reboot the VM. After reboot, USB device will be visible under System Report | Hardware | USB. Also the smart card reader I tested was functional (e.g. card detected under System Report | Software | SmartCards, card detected via pcsctest console app).

Devices like external HDDs work, but a hard wallet (Trezor) does not work.
