Low FPS in recorded screen videos

Since August 2017, screen video recording fails to produce smooth videos as fps went down from 30 to below 10. The picture quality itself is good, but the video is "jumpy" as FPS is way too low. 30 is an optimum for normal quality. I use iMac.

This is still a problem. FPS is too low and video is choppy. In addition to this, from about a year ago or more, a screenshot of full screen cannot be taken like before. The little pop up window shows, but clicking on it goes nowhere as the file is actually is not created.
This tool is neat, but for what I use the most, buggy.
