Kernal Panic on install

I have a reproducible, non-recoveralble kernal panic when installing latest version of Parallels 5 for mac...

New MacPro
software Raid 1
16gb ram
OS was stable...
Was using Steermouse approved 3rd party driver for logitech G5 mouse (downloaded from apple.com site)

Suspect mouse driver interacted poorly with the parallel software.
The kernal panic produced equivilant blue wall of death.. Occurred during the parallel install, twice.
Completely trashed machine, would not reboot at all... goes immediately back into kernal panic on restart. Required time machine restore... Very concerning.

I removed steermouse, but am afraid to try the install again... Has anyone had similar experiences, can anyone confirm this is a confirmed incompatibility. I found other posts where people talk about driver not working with button mapping no the mouse, but not a terminal kernal panic.

Maybe it's not compatible with any MacPro5,1 model. Does it boot in 32 or 64 bit kernel mode (Check Activity Monitor - System Processes and see if it say kernel_task Intel 64 bit)?
 
The new Mac's (I guess I can only speak for the 12-core) boot in 64 bit.

Tech supports thinks it might be an issue with the processor. I'm testing a patch today.
 
I haven't seen any official documentation on the problem. Just a thread here in the forum and on the apple forum.

I am pleased to report the update they gave me DID WORK! Granted I haven't had time to confirm if there are any other issues, but I was able to install PD5 and fire it up without any kernel panics.

I don't know if I'm allowed to post in here the link the tech gave me. If a moderator can clear that up for me, I'd be happy to post the link to the build that is working for me.
 
I was wondering if the problem was processor related or if booting in 64 bit caused the problem. Of course, I could boot in 64 bit mode myself to test that on an old Mac Pro (MacPro3,1) but if I do get a kernel panic in 64 bit mode it doesn't mean that MacPro5,1 would not get a kernel panic in 32 bit mode. There are plenty of utilities to switch between 32-bit and 64-bit mode. Or you can hold down the 6 and 4 keys for 64 bit and the 3 and 2 keys for 32 bit.

All the parallels kernel extensions are universal (32 and 64 bit) so presumably they have been tested in 64 bit. If Parallels tech support thinks it might be an issue with the processor then it's probably not related to booting in 64 bit mode but I just wanted to be sure.
 
I have a new 12 core mac pro. I tried installing Parallels 5 only to receive kernel panic as installation neared completion. Upon rebooting the system I receive the kernel panic each and every time before reaching the desktop.

I just downloaded an evaluation copy of VMware Fusion and it installed just fine! The evaluation is for 30 days. Parallels team: You have 29 days to fix this issue or I purchase VMware. Thanks, and good luck!!!
 
The panics were processor-related. They occurred in 32 bit and 64 bit kernel modes. The new build of PD5 works fine in both modes so far on my Mac Pro.
