Keep Windows Icons in Dock Ver 4.0

kevinw,

Thanks. Is this issue specific to Quicken only? I'm asking because at least one more person in his thread has problem with Quicken as well.

Passed the report to OS integration gurus internally.

Hi Tim,

The "send problem report" timed out on me. But here is something from the system log right after starting up a Windows application:

Nov 16 21:01:19 Lume [0x0-0x2a02a].com.parallels.desktop.console[367]: QFile::copy: Empty or null file name

I sent you a PM about trying to get you the complete problem report.

Thanks,
Marc

*kevinw*,

From what I see in report, you have your "Show in Dock" option set to "Coherence only":

Code:
---------
<SharedApplications>
<FromWinToMac>1</FromWinToMac>
<FromMacToWin>0</FromMacToWin>
<SmartSelect>1</SmartSelect>
<AppInDock>2</AppInDock>
---------
Please set it to "Always". The option is found at Configure->Shared Applications->Show in Dock. See pic attached for reference.

*marcl*, probably you have the same problem. Please check the same option.

Hi Tim,

My "Configure->Shared Applications->Show in Dock" is set to "Always". Here is the corresponding bit from the Problem Report:

<SharedApplications>
<FromWinToMac>1</FromWinToMac>
<FromMacToWin>1</FromMacToWin>
<SmartSelect>1</SmartSelect>
<AppInDock>2</AppInDock>

Thanks,
Marc

Please, try to re-install Parallels Tools. It must help you. From problem report I can see, that required module is not even loaded. It is possibly missed or very old. Did you participate in our beta program?

No I did not participate in the Beta, I have reinstalled PTools once, should I do it again? Should I un-install and then re-install.

Ok, thats interesting. Can you navigate to "C:\Program Files\Parallels\Parallels Tools\Plugins" and locate a file "SharedGuestApps.dll". If it present, what time-date information it has? Can you post it here?

It is dated 11/09/08 1:19 am the same as all the other .dlls in that folder.

1:19 am is weird as I definitely did not install it at that time?

Good news (sort of). Remembering back to the periodic problems I had with v3, I decided to do an uninstall / install, and I now have Windows Application Icons in my Dock. Unfortunately, that didn't fix a new networking problem, but I will go to other threads for that.

RESOLVED for me

After trying everything in this thread including all the usual requests (reinstall parallels tools, reboot, change system tray settings) i have finally resolved this.

i had my windows icons in my dock till recently then they suddenly disappeared and nothing would bring them back. Till I unchecked the share windows applications option, accepted the annoying warning, then rechecked it again and entered coherence again. All is resolved. [You may also need to reenable crystal mode].
