iPhone shows as connected to OS X guest, but cannot access it via anything

As per the title, my iPhone X shows as connected to a Parallels OS X guest, but nothing can access it, e.g. iTunes and Xcode.
Refer to the image that shows the "Devices and Simulators" window from Xcode, and the USB menu in the VM that shows the iPhone is connected.
Anyone know how to solve this?

So the answer was to install Parallels Tools. Why does Parallels not make this suggestion in the first place?
