How to "pin" a shared folder to a specific drive?

I have several folders custom-shared with Windows XP guest OS. Parallels 6 mounts them starting from Z: down, but the specific positions of the drives change - the user folder can be Z: one day and X: the next, and other folders I use (work files, other shared files) also change locations depending on what is mounted when.

This is seriously impacting some Windows XP software that expects data files to stay on the same drive. I've looked for an option to specify "this shared drive, say /winfiles, must always be shared as W: in the VM" but couldn't find one.

Anyone else having this hassle?
 
Don't share the specific Mac folder you want to set to a drive letter. Instead, share a parent folder (Custom Folders). Then in Windows, right click Computer and select Map Network Drive. Select the drive letter, then navigate to the specific folder you want to share through \\psf\MyParentCustomFolderName\

You don't usually need to create a custom folder share. Instead, you could use the Share Disks: "All disks" option (or the "Home folders only" option if the Mac folder you want to share is in your user folder). Then in windows:

Your Mac user folder: \\psf\Home\
Your Mac OS X disk: \\psf\Host\
Your other Mac disks: \\psf\Host\Volumes\

You will need to create a custom folder share only if the complete path to the specific Mac folder from the above 3 starting paths is too long. You'll know if it's too long if you get weird errors while trying to use a file in the drive letter.
