How long should it take for CS to get back to us via phone?

Hello, we're new. How long should it take for CS to get back to us via phone? We've been waiting with a ticket # for 12+ hours. Is this the expected wait times? Does it help to keep adding replies to the ticket while you wait, or does it upset the CS and they make you wait longer? Thank you for the advise.
