How can I stop Parallels apps from automatically opening files like webm or txt on macOS

I regularly check my lottery results from emails or links on the website "resultadodeltrisdehoy.com," but I have an issue with my Mac. Whenever I try to open certain files like webm or txt, they automatically open in Parallels-installed apps, even though I want to use native macOS apps to handle them. For example, if I download a webm file to view it, Parallels forces it to open in a Windows app, which slows things down and disrupts my workflow. This issue even happens with simple text files.

I've tried resetting the default apps on macOS multiple times, but every time Parallels updates or I restart the system, it reassigns these file types to Parallels, which is extremely frustrating. I want to keep Parallels installed for specific tasks, but I don't want it to interfere with everyday files like these when I'm checking lottery results or saving files for later.

Is there a more permanent way to stop Parallels from hijacking these file associations? I need a solution that lets me open these files in my default macOS apps without worrying about Parallels taking over, especially when I'm just trying to quickly check my lottery results. Any help would be appreciated, as this issue has been causing me quite a bit of frustration.

To stop Parallels from taking over file associations on your Mac, right-click a file (e.g., a .webm or .txt), choose Get Info, and select the desired macOS app under the Open with section, then click Change All. Additionally, in Parallels, go to Preferences > General and disable any options related to file integration with macOS. If the issue persists, you can reset the Launch Services database using Terminal by executing the command: /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user, followed by a restart. If the problem continues, consider reinstalling Parallels or contacting their support for further assistance.

Go to Configure (right click on Control Center or click on Actions/Configure NOT in full screen). Go to Options/Sharing and uncheck "Share Windows" and "Share Mac". Now you have an isolated Windows machine which will not open files with Mac programs and a Mac which won't attempt to open Windows programs.
