Hello All,

if you play Counterstrike:Go using the native Mac app from Steam, all Ultra settings with 16x AA etc., you get about 120 fps on an Apple M1. Impressive so to say !

Battlefield 1 from EA has an Origin client for Mac, but you cant install that game. So you need Windows 11 ARM and Parallels, fine.

The issue here now is that Battlefield 1 runs at 15-20 fps at total minimal settings - its unplayable. And yes, the VM is set to "Game mode", 8GB RAM and 6 CPU cores assigned.

Parallels need to close this massive performance gap :)

So much dumb..

The M1 is a GTX 1050 at best. Part of the reason why Mac gaming blows (amongst other reasons like Apple shipping 15 years of laptops with Intel potato graphics) is because Apple didn't update their graphics API to be something standardized. Even back when they used OpenGL, they kept it on an ancient version.. 4.1? If I remember right? which is pretty damn old. So, porting games that use Direct X (most of them) over to Open GL 4.1 was irritating enough. Then they go adopt Metal.. which on Mobile seems to be "okay" but on desktops/laptops isn't so hot. Thankfully projects like MoltenVK have come out which offers Metal->Vulkan translation.. which I'm sure Parallels is using as best they can combined with some DXVK work no doubt.. but Metal isn't Vulkan and MoltenVK doesn't allow 100% of the Vulkan features.

So, long story longer. What Parallels has done is nothing short of damn impressive (even if they burn their customers on upgrade pricing), but performance issues with a AAA title that (probably) heavily uses DX11/12, being converted to Vulkan being converted to Metal, not to mention the x86-ARM emulation happening, on a 30watt SoC (the M1).. the fact it even "runs".. man. You have no leg to stand on here.
 
So much nonsense ..

The M1 GPU with 2.6 TFLOPS is indeed like a 1050 Ti.

However the 16 Neural Cores deliver 11 TFLOPS for matrix calculation which is like a Titan Xp. And the key point here is that Paralells is not using the neural cores to accelerate 3D performance in VM.
