Error message on Sequoia

Bit poster
I understand I'm running a Beta so this isn't a complaint but more of a curiosity if it's happening to anyone else and if so if there is some sort of fix aside from waiting for some more stability. I'm actually not even sure if this is related to Parallels but I think it's pretty obvious with the error message haha. I get this message randomly, and quite frequently, I don't even have to be running Parallels. Parallels does run for me just fine, but like I said, this message just randomly pops up and sometimes it pops up 3 or 4 more times before it goes away for a little while. Any thoughts?

Hello @Randy4
Thank you for the description.
Could you please provide us with a technical report (click Parallels icon || > Help > Send technical data > check "Attach screenshots..." > press Send Report) and send the report's 9-digit ID, for further analysis ?
Thanks!

Any update on this? It keeps getting worse with each beta update I do. Again, I realize this could be a problem because of the beta. But this is really annoying. Looks like the error message mainly is "PC register not matching crash frame"

I'm getting pretty much the same thing on a Sequoia Beta Mac. Every few minutes an error message (ParallesIM has quit unexpectedly) pops up, with details essentially similar to those you have posted. It would be nice if there were some way to stop it.

I'm not happy that you are experiencing it as well, but at least I know that I'm not the only one and it must be a bug with the new beta OS. Hopefully they come out with a fix because this is incredibly annoying and frustrating.

Are you running the Developer or Public beta? I'm running the Developer beta (Version 15.0 Beta (24A5298h)) on a Mac Studio Ultra with 64Gb of memory and have no problems. I'm running both Win 11 Developer and Canary VM's with no problems.

I've been on all developer betas. On to 15.1 now. It's been a problem for me on every single developer beta release for Sequoia.

Not sure if this would be a help or not, but you might try doing a complete wipe and reinstall of 15.1. When I go from one overall update (14.0 > 15.0 for example), I do a Time Machine backup (outside of my regularly scheduled full backups), go to Recovery mode, blow away the Data and System disks and rebuild. I then use Recovery to reinstall the OS. I don't know if this is an option for you or not, it's a suggestion. The second thing I noticed is that there is a Rosetta error. What is being converted from Intel to Mac? I just opened the Activity Monitor and I don't show any Rosetta action of any kind.

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure I'm confident doing what you suggested. I'm also not sure how to see if Rosetta is running? If it's as simple as opening my activity monitor and seeing "Rosetta", then no I do not see that. If it's something more in-depth to look at, that is out of my operating knowledge. I wonder if uninstalling and reinstalling Parallels is worth a shot?

If it's not showing up in Activity Monitor (btw, did you check under the "Memory" and "CPU" tab?) chances are it's a non-issue.

I wonder if uninstalling and reinstalling Parallels is worth a shot?
FIrst, copy the PVM file (the virtual machine file) to another location on your hard drive. (Not really necessary but it's nice to know you have it if something happens during the uninstall/reinstall), then do a Parallels uninstall/reinstall. Make sure you know (or have access) to your Parallels license before you delete the program. I'm not advocating you do this, but when I delete a program, I use an app named Find Any File and do a search for the program name. This allows the complete removal of the program and any left over files and directories on the hard drive. This step is (probably) not required but my working circumstances more than likely differ from yours. Once Parallels has been removed, shut down and restart your Mac (this should get rid of anything Parallels pokes into memory). Reinstall Parallels (make sure you have the latest version) and check to see if your PVM file still exists. If it does, you can test to see if the reinstall solved the problem. If it doesn't, you might want to create a new PVM, update it to the Insider Developer version, and check to see if that solved the problem. If the problem is solved, your original PVM file is corrupted in some way. If the problem is still happening even with a newly installed Parallels, you have ruled out Paralllels as the root of the problem.
So, step by step (sort of)
1. Back up the PVM file (do it manually or use Time Machine)
2. Remove Parallels
3. Reinstall Parallels
4. Using Parallels, build a new PVM
5. Verify that the new PVM fixes the problem. (If it does, your original PVM file is creating the problem somehow)
6. If the Parallels reinstall works with the newly created PVM. Rename the newly created PVM file something else and copy your original PVM file to the Parallels directory.(users/<your name>/Parallels). Right-click and select "Open".
7. Check once more to see if the problem still exists. If the problem is still there with your original PVM and the newly created one works, the problem is with your original PVM.
(if you want to avoid about 90% of this, just select File/New under the Parallels Desktop menu, create a new PVM and see if you still have the problem,)

Thank you for all of your help and information. I ended up deleting everything. I did not use my original PVM. I don't use it for a whole lot and anything I save, I save to my iCloud Drive. So, all I really lost was like one app that I barely use and can easily reinstall and then I had to reinstall all of my Office 365 apps. It's actually kind of refreshing to have a fresh start. I will say that at first I only deleted the app and didn't catch all the files and the error was still happening. So then I went through and believe I found all the files plus I found this file that is mentioned at the top of my error code: Path: /Library/Input Methods/ParallelsIM.app/Contents/MacOS/ParallelsIM and deleted that. That file said it hadn't been touched since 2022. So, I'm not sure if simply deleting that would have been enough and the problem would have went away or not. But in any event, things seem to be running smoothly now so thanks again for all your help!

I have the same issue with Seqoia 15.1 and 15.1.1. These are NOT Beta installs, but production release. I am running Parallels 20.1.1 Pro Edition.
I get the ParallelsIM Quit unexpectedly all the time on my Windows 10 Dev VM..

No I am NOT going to build a new PVM (I have several). This is my development VM and it has many moons of stuff on it which I cannot simply reproduce at will. I need a solution from parallels: 1. as to why this is happening; and 2. how to fix it. NOT the microsoft solution, reformat your drive and reboot. Parallels: please put some thinkng into this.

Kevin

Is there a solution to this? I've done all upgrades and still seeing this ParallelsIM error message on regular basis. Can't determine which application it might be conflicting with, but would suggest this seems likely. Any update since last week?

@JonZ5 I have exactly the same and it is so cripplingly annoying, been going on for months. I have sent the same info, plus the tech data, plus the versions etc etc to an official support call with Parallels. Really, they have no idea and will tell me, as they have told others, to wipe the VM, delete and reinstall parallels. I cannot (and will not) do that. I have a long standing development VM with a shit tin load of stuff that would be difficult to recreate.

Parallels just needs to fix it, has been pestering ma and many others for a long time. Having said that I am not hopeful.
The Ticket ID created to track your request is [Parallels #5062404].
When replying, make sure to keep the subject line [Parallels #5062404] ParallelsIM Quit Unexpectedly unchanged.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Parallels Support.

Kindly follow the below steps:

1. Open Finder > Applications

2. Find Parallels Access on the list and drag-and-drop it to Trash

There is NO PARALLELS ACCESS in Applications (there is a Parallels Toolbox)
If the uninstallation does not work, go to System Settings > General > Login Items and remove Parallel Access from the list and toggle it off.

There is NO PARALLELS ACCESS in Login (there is a Parallels Toolbox)
If the above still does not work, please perform the below steps:

1. Use Cmd + Shift + G and type /Library/LaunchAgents/ then delete com.parallels.mobile.prl_deskctl_agent.launchagent.plist.

Done
2. Use Cmd + Shift + G and type /Library/LaunchDaemons/ then delete com.parallels.mobile.dispatcher.launchdaemon.plist and com.parallels.mobile.audioloader.launchd.plist.

Done
3. Use Cmd + Shift + G and type /Library/Preferences/ then delete parallels-access.loc.

It is NOT in that folder it is in /Library/Preferences/Parallels
Done
4. Open Terminal and type and execute the below one by one:

ps aux | grep ParallelsIM

Done
sudo killall ParallelsIM

No Matching process found.
I will advise if the issue reoccurs.

Please advise why no Parallels Access was found in Applications or in the Login Settings?

Kevin

And for those perservering with Parallels Access and getting issues, my onlu advice is don't.

This from Parallels support:

Parallels Access was another software product that we provided, but has already reached it's end-of-life, and end of support. We have encountered issues where this software was still installed and caused similar issues.

Please let us know the outcome after performing the other mentioned commands.

Just to be clear, I am no longer getting the ParallelsIM Quit Unexpoectedly' messages, so yes, it did solve the problem by getting rid of what Parallels says is a deprecated/unsupported product from my system.

This fixed my issue, too.
Leftovers. Frustrating.
