I have Vista Premium. During this process, I have updated all of my drivers and installed/reinstalled, restarted, etc. multiple times. I have reinstalled the Parallel Tools several times.
The consistent theme is that may DVD is locked and I need to update driver, cd, etc.
I have given up on making windows media player work. I have tired several dvd's. I have installed Service pack 2, re-installed tools and these are the results of my two methods of playing dvd. Remember the titans
For Windows media player, starts, displays blank screen for a long time during which it says media player not responding. It then plays the FBI and disney logo. It then -- several minutes later -- stops with "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoded, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.
I am running Snow Leopard -- up-to-date -- and have no problems playing any dvd on my mac side.
I have download and installed the Roxio CinePlayer. It attempts to play a disk, however, after several minutes of saying "Not Responding" it returns FBI label and Disney and then quits with "Playback failed due to unknown reason. Please try to update your system hardware and software and try again".
I have tried multiple combinations of video hardware. with and without 3D acceleration, vertical synch, memory, etc.
I currently have 128mb, enable 3D, Enable vertical. I have tried both Default cd/DVD and matshita DVD-R.
Now all of this may be "just Vista", but who would know? Since it keeps pointing at HW/SW, this would imply Parallels.
Please -- any clues/thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you.
