corrupted video-recording file

Just used parallels tools box video recorder today. Parallel tools box recorder just crashed when it was about 3 hours long. There is a 4gb corrupted mov file left but can not be opened. Are there any solutions? How could I fix the file? It's really important. I used to record a meeting for about 7 hours long without any problem in parallels toolsbox in windows.

I've had the same thing happen to me yesterday where I was in the middle of recording a video with Parallels Toolbox and it crashed after several hours.
I was able to retrieve the temporary mov file, but it is unplayable by any utility.
I am running MacOS Big Sur 11.6.2
How can I fix this file?

I have tested native Quicktime to record meeting for about 6 to 8 hours long with no problem. The mov file is quite big but it could be processed by Handbrake to reduce the file size. May be you could try it.

I usually use Handbrake to convert my recorded videos to HEVC mkv format. However, in the middle of a recording session, Parallels Toolbox "Record Window" app crashed and it did not properly close the temporary file. The recorded temporary file is in an unusable state and all media players VLC, Handbrake, etc, report errors.

Handbrake reports "No Valid Source Found"
ffmpeg shows the following error on the temporary file that was created by Parallels Toolbox.
[mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2 @ 0x7ff0b9008200] moov atom not found
Invalid data found when processing input

@parallels, How can we fix the file created by Parallels Toolbox after the application crashed and not properly closing the file?
Is there any utility in the suite that will allow us to open the file so that the video can be saved?

Hi all!
Kindly reproduce the issue once again and collect a technical report right after the issue is reproduced as described in KB https://kb.parallels.com/124107 . Send me your report ID number, please.
Additional questions:
1. Does the issue happen with files of all sizes?
2. Does it matter how long you record the window?
3. Does it happen with the 'Record window' tool only? Or 'Record area' is also affected?
