Copy/Paste stopped working

I'm running 10.5.1 and 3214... and Copy/Paste stopped working... and so did drag 'n drop between Mac/Parallels. I thought it was related to this thread.... I can try reinstalling Parallels Tools...???

Win-to-Mac Copy OK?

Using build 5582, I have noticed that Windows to Mac copy/paste is OK.

Only Mac to Windows is not working.

Just curious if anyone else is experiencing that also...?

As I've said before, the build with the fix for the copy-paste issue in 5582 is coming soon.

Rail, please update your Virtual Machine to 3224. This is Leopard-compatible build for Parallels Desktop 2.5.

What is the ETA on the fix? This pretty much makes Parallels useless.

Anyone have a work around after install the security patch? Ugg!

Using 5581 and 3224 on Tiger.
 
Dear all,

The free update Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 5584 is available for download.

This build provides hotfixes for Drag&Drop and Copy/Paste issues caused by the recent Security Updates on Mac OS X Tiger.

It also includes these minor fixes:

- Parallels Desktop installer hanging on some rare occasions;
- Xorg 1.3.0 in newest Linux distributions (such as Ubuntu 7.10, Fedora Core 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and others) cannot initialize 1600x1200x24 default resolution.

You can download the update manually here and update your existing Parallels Desktop version (keep in mind that clean re-install is recommended to avoid any possible issues with updating).

Doesn't work for me

I'm running OS X 10.4.11 and Fedora Core 8 as a guest. Copy/paste between the guest and the host does not work at all, in either direction. I have installed the tools.

Dynamic resolution change doesn't work either.
 
Windows XP Harddrive missing from Mac Desktop

I have a similar copy/paste drag/drop problem on several Mac (OSX 10.5.4) machines here at our office.

For no clear reason, the Windows XP virtual hard drive icon disappears from user's desktops, while the guest OS is open and running. When it does, copy/paste and drag/drop between the Mac OS and the XP Guest OS stop working. The XP guest OS still works fine otherwise. I read through the forums and I did not hear this aspect of the issue mentioned. If I quit/restart both the guest XP OS and Parallels (build 5608), the XP hard drive appears again on the desktop and copy/paste and drag/drop work fine again. This is a pain to do often though when you have several programs and windows running in XP.

If anyone can point me to fixes or ideas, I would appreciate it.
 
An external drive? Who has one of those lying around :) That is not a solution I can implement unfortunately. What do you mean by high load? I have a 500 GB drive with like 400GB available and I have 16GB of RAM.
 
Memory is not always panacea , I meant high I/O load.
it is hard to investigate further without knowing additional details,
May be you can recall at what condition this usually occurs?
 
Hmmm. It is hard to say when it happens because usersare not always copying and pasting. It could happen an hour previous before the user even notices it when trying to copy. I can't imagine what type of high I/O load would occur on these machines. They are basically running Outlook, Dreamweaver, and IE in XP on nearly new MacPro machines.

Basically we are recreating a Windows environment for these people as they are not Mac fans. All the software is PC-based.

Ok, another cause:
When too many software is running on Windows side graphic intensive
Try to check is Video memory set to 64 mb ram.
And also please try to collect information which software is running at that time
I believe that several software can cause broken copy/paste, and we need to determine which one
 
Me too / Build 3810 / Leopard

I too have this issue.
It usually occurs when trying to copy/paste from Mac to Windows (I rarely go the other way).
It hangs IE or Firefox etc. What am I doing wrong, or is this now a known issue with Parallels 4 or MacOS updates? Thanks.
