Can't Use My Macbook

I just purchased Parallels and installed it onto my Macbook which is running the most recent version of OS X. I then went through the Vista installation process and the machine froze during the install so I had to power down and reboot.

Now when I boot the machine my desktop comes up with the rainbow pinwheel whirling and it never stops....it whirls for 5-10 minutes and then resets me back into my log in. During that process I can't use anything on my desktop. I have tried numerous restarts with no results. I have booted from my Mac OS X disk and ran the disk utility but it says there are no repairs needed.

For now I can't use my laptop until this is fixed so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
 
Build Number Here

Thanks for your response Xenos. I checked the link I used to download Parallels and it had the numbers 5584 in it so my guess is that is the build #. I downloaded it on Saturday 4/12/08.

My biggest problem though is that I can't use my laptop at all because of this whirling rainbow pinwheel of computer death which spins non-stop and doesn't allow me to use any programs. It seems that something is occupying all of the system resources causing the computer to eventually just kick me back to the log in screen.

I'm trying to avoid a full reinstall of the OS. Any recommendations?
 
Hello Electric Air,

Please boot in Safe Mode and remove Parallels. Then reboot and check if it works OK without Parallels. Then try installing PD again.

As the Pinwheel Turns...

Hi Xenos,

No progress. I booted in safe mode but the pinwheel just whirls on interminably. I let it run for over an hour before I held the power button down to turn it on. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
